CATALONIA

Sitges Montserrat Costa Brava Tossa St Feliu Palamos Girona sephardi Jewish Museum
SITGES
It is one of the most attractive and elegant towns of the Catalan coast, located 35 kilometres south of Barcelona and a very popular destination.
Famous for its beautiful beaches, its cultural atmosphere, the narrow streets that invite one to walk, enjoying a pause in any of the beloved cafés, or to visit fashion and antiques shops. Its nightlife and carnival are famous.
The church, located on a promontory overlooking the sea allows us to enjoy an excellent view of the Mediterranean or to walk through the surrounding narrow paved streets. Maricel, Cau Ferrat and Romantic Museums deserve to be visited.

THE WINE REGION OF PENEDES (Cava cellars)
The region of Penedés, internationally known for wines and Cavas is located 40 kilometres from Barcelona.
The Capital, Vilafranca del Penedés, hosts an important Wine Museum.
The majority of cellars are open to the public.
One of the most interesting visit are to Cavas Freixenet and Cavas Codorniu, a beautiful example of modernist architecture designed by Puig i Cadafalch.
The guided tour introduces the visitor into a labyrinth of tunnels where you will be able to appreciate the slow process required to elaborate Catalan Cava.
We reccommend also a visit to Bodegas Torres, wine makers since XVII century, to enjoy the wineyards and the visitors center.

CAVA AND MEDITERRANEAN
A visit to the region of Penedes, visiting a Cava cellar in the morning and stopping for lunch in Sitges, allows to enjoy an unforgettable day among vineyards, savouring the best of Mediterranean cuisine in a typical seaside town.

MONTSERRAT
The Monastery of Montserrat, located 60 kilometres west of Barcelona, on a spectacular mountain of strange rock formations, is the heart of Catalan religious and spiritual fervour.
Founded in the XI century, the Romanesque figure of the Virgin of Montserrat “La Moreneta”, Patron of Catalonia, is venerated by pilgrims.
At 1 PM, inside the church, the Choir of children of the Escolanía sing like angels. Attendance is recommended.
The view from the top of the mountain is spectacular.

COSTA BRAVA (Girona, Figueres Dalí Museum)
60 kilometres north of Barcelona, the coast that extends from Blanes, Lloret and Tossa de Mar to the border of France, is an area of enormous beauty that combines steep cliffs with calas of transparent water (small coves surrounded by cliffs), beautiful inland landscapes and attractive beaches, small fishing villages and famous tourist towns.
Figueres, and especially the Museum Salvador Dalí, deserves a visit due to the incalculable artistic value of the works shown in the museum.

GIRONA - BESALU
Girona, located 30 kilometres inland is famous for its monumental environment and the old Call (Jewish quarter).
Walking through the historical centre of Girona is an unforgettable experience.
Enjoy a visit to the Cathedral or lose yourself among the narrow streets of the Jewish heritage Call.
Another nearby town with great interest is the XII century medieval Besalu.
Recommending a visit to the old town, the Jewish Quarter with the recently discovered Mikva and the roman bridge over the River Fluvia.

TARRAGONA
A visit to the city of Tarragona (1,5 hours south) is interesting to return 2000 years back in history and appreciate the city development that combines some excellent Roman ruins. We can highlight the Forum, the Amphitheatre and the Roman circus with a medieval area dominated by the Cathedral and its magnificent cloister.

ANDORRA The country of the Pyrenees
Located in the Pyrenees, between France and Spain and 200 Km from Barcelona. This principality offers a magnificent combination of landscapes, sport and shopping.
